The scholarship is open to college students at two and four year institutions who have completed their freshman year. To fund this scholarship, the Waukesha Sunrise Rotary hosts a golf outing. This year’s scramble is June 10th at Merrill Hills Country Club. Golfers of all skill levels are welcome. |

Morning meeting with Interact Club.Tuesday we had our morning meeting with the Interact Club. Also in attendance were members of the Pewaukee Club and Parents. |
When Rectangles and Circles come Together.Like our badges and the tables we shared breakfast at. Waukesha Sunrise Rotarians changed up our routine a bit this week and met with the Pewaukee Rotary Club. What a great opportunity to get to know other Rotarians better! The plan is to hold joint meetings now once a month, with Pewaukee visiting us at the Country Springs on Tuesday and the Waukesha Sunrise Rotarians going to the Machine Shed on Wednesday. Mary Beth Growny-Selene, a Rotary International Director Elect (RIDE) and a PDG, was our guest speaker. We were fortunate to have several distinguished Rotarians from District 6270 come as guests as well: DG Rick Debe, DGE Dan Christianson, DRFC Mike Slawny, PDG District Secretary Bob Hosch. Mary Beth asked what made us join Rotary and perhaps more important, what makes us stay. She pointed out that every Rotarian in the world, with the exception of one person, was ASKED to join. Do you know who that one person was? If you answered Paul Harris, you are correct. The ASK is the key!! Mary Beth also gave us further insights into the End Polio Now Campaign and how close we are to eradication.
Thanks to Mary Beth for her program and to all who made this meeting possible! Click "more" to see the pictures. |

We Are This Close to Ending Polio |
Doing Good in the CommunityWaukesha Sunrise Rotarians have been out and about in the community making a difference in this 2011 holiday season. Over $600 was collected from club Rotarians to sponsor turkeys or hams in the Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets. This sponsorship was granted to the Waukesha Food Pantry. Just completed was the annual Bell Ringing for the Waukesha branch of the Salvation Army. Rotarians, spouses and friends rang the familiar sounding bell of the Salvation Army for 12 shifts, over 2 days at one of the local grocery stores. Additionally – Waukesha Sunrise Rotary adopted 3 families with 10 children in the annual Christmas Clearing Council efforts. These three families will have a brighter holiday season. Individual and club donations of over $600.00 made this effort possible for the 10 children to have a brighter Christmas. Waukesha Sunrise Rotary was awarded a grant from the Rotary International District 6270, which will help fund a family birthday celebration for children. This effort was done with the Waukesha Food Pantry as a partner. Rotarians will be sorting the food items for the Birthday bags to make each child special on their birthday!
