The Waukesha Sunrise Rotary officially launched the 2026 Flags for Heroes season tonight with the installation of hundreds of American flags at the corner of Tower Road and Highway 164 in Pewaukee, just north of I-94.
The Memorial Day display marks the beginning of another year of honoring heroes throughout the community. Each flag represents a personal tribute to someone who has made a meaningful impact — including veterans, active-duty military personnel, first responders, healthcare professionals, teachers, mentors, family members, and other everyday heroes.
The project not only honors heroes, but also supports important community initiatives. Proceeds from flag sponsorships benefit scholarships, youth programs, local nonprofits, and service projects funded through the Waukesha Sunrise Rotary Charitable Fund.
Community members are encouraged to visit the display over Memorial Day weekend and consider sponsoring a flag in honor of someone special. The display will return throughout 2026 for Flag Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day.
