On June 20th, the world observes World Refugee Day, honoring the strength, courage, and resilience of millions who have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict, persecution, or disaster.
For Rotarians, this day is not just about awareness — it’s about action. It’s about recognizing the humanity in every refugee and our shared responsibility to stand beside them.
There are now over 100 million displaced people worldwide — the highest number in recorded history. Behind that number are families torn apart, children uprooted from school, and communities struggling to rebuild from trauma. But there is also hope. Hope found in safe shelters, compassionate volunteers, and in the hands of Rotarians offering support.
Rotary clubs around the world are actively involved in refugee relief efforts: providing food, clothing, and medical care; supporting education for displaced youth; offering vocational training and language learning; and building peace in fractured regions.
Our work is rooted in dignity. We don't just deliver aid — we extend friendship. We advocate for systems of inclusion and create pathways for displaced individuals to thrive, not just survive.
On this World Refugee Day, let us affirm that every human being deserves safety, belonging, and a future. Let’s live out our mission to build peace and goodwill in the world — by extending our hands, our hearts, and our service.
