Rotary’s vision for peace, unity, and humanitarian service aligned seamlessly with the U.N.’s mission, embedding Rotary’s ideals into the foundation of global governance.
During World War II, Rotary leaders recognized the urgent need for an international organization to prevent conflict and promote cooperation. Their advocacy, planning, and global connections culminated in Rotary’s involvement at the 1945 San Francisco Conference, where they joined 41 other organizations as consultants. Rotary’s delegates were instrumental in influencing the U.N. Charter, championing values of peace, goodwill, and collaboration that continue to guide the U.N. today.
