On April 13th, we mark the 113th anniversary of a milestone that forever changed the Rotary movement—the founding of the first international Rotary Club in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1912.

What began just seven years earlier as a vision in Chicago became a global force for good, rooted in service, friendship, and peace. The formation of the Winnipeg club signified more than geographic expansion—it marked the birth of Rotary as a truly worldwide network, united not by borders, but by values.

From that pivotal step in Canada, Rotary’s reach has grown to over 46,000 clubs across the globe. Yet the spirit remains unchanged: service above self, ethical leadership, and a commitment to community and international goodwill.

The Winnipeg club’s legacy lives on in every cross-cultural project, every international service trip, and every global grant that uplifts lives around the world. Its founding reminds us that when service knows no borders, our impact becomes limitless.

Today, as Rotarians, we celebrate not just a historic milestone—but a living legacy. One that challenges us to continue building bridges, fostering peace, and connecting the world, one act of service at a time.

Let’s honor this anniversary by embracing what made that moment so powerful: the belief that community is global, and that together, we can change the world.
